What these numbers mean
🎯Target share is the percent of his team's throws that went to that one player. It's the single best early signal of whether a player's role is actually growing — well before it shows up in touchdowns or points.
👟Snap share is the percent of offensive plays a player was on the field for. Shown alongside target share as context — rising snaps with flat targets usually means blocking/decoy work, not real opportunity.
📊Every player here had a real, meaningful number of targets in at least one of the two weeks compared — noise players (a single garbage-time catch, a punter's snap count) are filtered out before ranking, so what you see is signal, not statistical fluff.
🏷️A small TOP 50 ADP tag means that player was already a well-known, highly-drafted name. A single week's dip there is often just normal variance — a tough matchup, a game script that favored the run — since his baseline share is already high. The same swing means more for a player without that tag, since it's more likely to represent an actual new role.
Why this is worth paying attention to
⏱️Box scores tell you what already happened. Target share trend tells you what's about to keep happening — a receiver's role rarely reverses itself in a single week.
💰This is the exact data an early waiver claim or a buy-low trade is built on — by the time a riser shows up in weekly rankings or a national article, half your league has already added him.
How to actually use it
🟢Risers you don't own: priority waiver claim or FAAB bid this week, before the role change becomes obvious to everyone else.
🟢Risers you already own: confidence to start them over a "name brand" player who's actually seeing fewer looks.
🔴Fallers you own: a signal to sell high before the market catches on, or at minimum to bench them for a rising alternative.
🔴Fallers on other rosters: a buy-low trade target — their price is about to drop further once their owner notices too.
🔮 "A single big game is a headline. Two straight weeks of rising target share is a trend — and in 38 seasons, I have never seen a trend reverse itself in the very week you finally decide to act on it."
⚠️One caveat: early in the season, two weeks of data is still a small sample. Treat these as strong leads worth acting on, not guarantees — pair them with the Oracle chat or Weekly Rankings before making a big trade off one week's swing.
